OpenClaw: configure the API key, model and provider in your terminal.

Chat, ping, invoke and content-generation examples may send real billable requests. Check the model, balance, rate and minimum before running them. GET /v1/models checks authentication and the catalogue only. Set up environment variables safely
Base URL to paste
OpenAI SDKs generally use a URL ending in /v1; Anthropic SDKs use the root URL. Avoid adding /v1 twice. Protocol compatibility does not guarantee every provider feature.

Back up the file; merge models.providers.thapi and agents.defaults.model into the existing config. Set STALI_API_KEY in the OpenClaw process environment before starting.

Create .openclaw if needed; save openclaw.json as UTF-8. Set $env:STALI_API_KEY in PowerShell before starting OpenClaw.
Verify connection
- Run openclaw config validate, then check that openclaw models list includes thapi/claude-fable-5. Send a test chat only if you accept the usage charge.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Reason | How to handle |

| Model not found | The default model does not match a model declared in the provider. | Set agents.defaults.model.primary = thapi/claude-fable-5 and keep id claude-fable-5 in models.providers.thapi.models. |
